My name is Dave Bender; I am the Co-Chair of theIllinois Business Immigration Coalition and Executive Director of the American Council of Engineering Companies of Illinois.
Tomorrow, legislators will be coming home to their districts for a five week recess. Unfortunately, we have not yet seen the significant movement we hoped for on common sense immigration reform.
As our legislators return to their districts, we are working to make sure they know that they have the broad local support they need to move forward with the common sense immigration reform our economy needs and the people of Illinois want.
Throughout the August recess, we are organizing events across Illinois bringing together local voices highlighting the critical need for prompt, common sense reform that will benefit the people and economy of our state. Our legislators will have the opportunity to hear from across diverse sectors - high-skilled and low-skilled, large corporations and small businesses.
The Illinois Business Immigration Coalition is partnering with the Great Lakes Region - U.S. Chamber of Commerce and Bibles, Badges & Business For Immigration Reform to show the Illinois House delegation that local businesses, faith and law enforcement support common sense immigration reform.
Here is a list of our upcoming events - please make sure to RSVP!
-On Wednesday August 7th, the McLean County Chamber of Commerce will host "Moving Us Forward: Illinois Voices for Immigration Reform" in Bloomington, Illinois.
-On Wednesday August 14th, the Champaign County Chamber of Commerce will host the "Moving Us Forward: Illinois Voices for Immigration Reform" in Champaign, Illinois.
Common sense immigration reform is a crucial step on Illinois' road to economic recovery, and we will continue communicating to our legislators that Illinois businesses, large and small, have their back on common sense immigration reform.
